Projects Galore!

Yeah, no kidding. This quarter's going to be great if I don't fall behind! I have Advanced Animation and Game Design Process.

In Advanced Animation I'll have 2 projects. The first one is due week 6 (Jan 23rd to be exact) and the Second one is due on the last day of class (week 11).

The first one is a 30 minute 3D animation using 3D studio max. It must have a story and have some kind of animation. Humanoid characters aren't required. Other than that, I had pretty much total control over what it was. First I was going with a 6-armed god (to be a cross between Shiva and Kali, hindu gods, ironically enough most pics i found were of Kali standing on a slain Shiva!) dancing. With no story plot to think of that wouldn't totally ruin my modeling Idea... I decided to think up something else. So Instead! I went for a background story for an old character of mine named Kamui. I'll have to load up some pictures of him here soon. He's hot. Yes, I got the name from the main character from the X Anime series (and if you haven't seen it you should!). But! He looks nothing like him. My Kamui is a half-demon/half-dragon god hybrid. Since he was a half breed, he was banished to earth. This made him bitter and he grew up to be a cold-hearted mercenary with the power to summon eastern style dragons. His father (Suoh) still watches over him, interfering when he can. Anyway, I have 30 seconds or less to incorporate all of that into the movie!

Sounds like a lot of work, but I've managed to work on my gait in MS Project (handy program, especially if you have more than one person on a project) and I believe I can do it if I stay on task.

The second project for that class will be done in Maya and the teacher has yet to tell us just what it is we will be doing for it. It will probably be another short animation with less specifications since this will be our first time using Maya in any of our classes.

My other class, Game Design Processes, is really more of a flash game class. It's easier to make a full game in Flash alone and go through the whole process than to work on a big idea in 3D Studio Max within our 11 week timespan. I have a rough Idea for this one too, but i'm not sure what to do with it just yet. I'm not sure the Genre, just the name and the style. I'm thinking it'll be a first person shooter since it's easy to do a point and click kill game in Flash. It's out of my usual Genre, but since it'll be in my own little fantasy like world it will be good. (i hope!)

Anyway, I've rambled on about my ideas too much, I'll stop now!
